Griechische Geschichte : lecture notes, 1829-1830.

Bound volume of notes taken by Ernst von Leutsch at Karl Hoeck's lectures on ancient Greek history, at the University of Göttingen, in the winter semester 1829-1830. The lectures begin with an overview of geography and a discussion of approaches to chronology, and then proceed chronologically through three periods of Greek history: 1. from Pelasgian beginning to approximately 1400 b.c.; 2. from the dispersal of the Hellenes to the return of the Heraclides; and 3. from the latter time until the Persian Wars. The discussion of the third era accounts for more than half the notes, and includes subheadings that refer to Lycurgus and Sparta (p. 121); aspects of the government of Sparta (p. 123, 125, 133); the Macedonian War (p. 143); Attica (p. 160); the colonies of the Hellenes (p. 197), and the Persian Wars (p. 243).
